In the scope of this project, distribution mapping of vascular plants of the extended UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Palava will be finished. As unit for distribution mapping, the Central European Grid will be used with subdivision of basic fields (6' x 10') i nto 100 squares (about 1 km2). Special attention will be paid both to sites of conservation importance and to endangered, invasive, and taxonomically critical species. The data acquired will be stored in a database which will later be used for comparison of biodiversity in the Hercynian, Pannonian, and Carpathian biogeographic region in the landscape scale as well as in practical conservation (a particular layer of GIS). The survey of the recent flora will be completed by a checklist compiled from liter ature and, if necessary, herbarium studies. This will make possible to evaluate the change in vascular plant flora from the time of first botanical surveys of the region to the present; endangered, phytogeographically important and synanthropic species w
