The project aims at development of vegetation typology of the Czech Republic, based on the national database of vegetation plots and application of formalized, computer-assisted classification methods which have been recently introduced or newlydeveloped by the project team. The new typology will consist of parametrized vegetation units, linked to the traditional phytosociological associations, and will be available online as an expert system for automatic identification of vegetation units. This typolog y will be based on an extensive analysis of broad-scale variation patterns in Czech vegetation using the methods of multivariate statistical analysis. The project will also include preparation of manuscripts of the 2nd and 3rd volume of themonograph Vege tation of the Czech Republic, with the treatments of aquatic, wetland, synanthropic and chasmophytic vegetation (including textual descriptions, distribution maps, synoptic tables, graphs and photographs). This monograph will be a basic
