Eukaryotic gene expression is largely controlled at the level of RNA synthesis by RNA polymerase II that is regulated by transcription initiation and termination. Transcription termination is directly coupled to the formation of proper 3' mRNA ends and depends on different factors for coding and non-coding RNAs. We use high-throughput studies combined with individual gene analyses to reveal how machines involved in the termination of non-coding RNAs affect 3’ end formation of mRNAs.
